Abstract

SUMMARY An iterative procedure is presented for the estimation of constants and variance components in non-orthogonal data conforming to the mixed model. The procedure derives from Henderson's maximum likelihood technique for estimating fixed effects in the mixed model and method 3 for variance component estimation. This derivation is given, and relevant statements of method 3 are given in matrix form.
