Abstract
Abstract An overview of several models for the conduct of nursing research is presented. These models include academic‐based and agency‐based research and collaborative research efforts. The advantages and limitations of each of the models are discussed. Collaborative research efforts are viewed as being the most advantageous to nursing. Collaborative projects have the greatest potential to make the maximal use of limited resources, to relate research to clinical practice, to study complex research questions, and to introduce clinicians to the research process.
