This article describes a unique collaborative nursing research network that links three diverse clinical institutions with a university center for nursing research. The research programs are described as they have evolved through the phases of initiation, generation, incorporation, and validation. Specific strategies are offered for guiding research activities in each of these four critical phases of a clinical research program.
