Abstract
A cDNA for the phytochrome of the fern Adiantum capillus-veneris L. was cloned and sequenced. The deduced phytochrome is 50˜55% identical to phytochromes of seed plants, and 68% identical to Selaginella phytochrome. Regions resemble those in previously characterized phytochromes from ferns, lower plants and seed plants.
