Abstract
Today, ethnic Chinese voluntary associations can be found wherever Chinese migrant groups live. A vast but loose-knit web of Chinese voluntary associations extends across the world, providing numerous possibilities for communication, mutual help and organized activity among Chinese migrants. In size and structure, these associations range from large to small, and from ephemeral and informal to firmly established and tightly organized.
