Abstract
As more marrow transplants are performed, oncology nurses will become increasingly involved in the pre- and posttransplant care of the patient. Knowledge of the biology of transplantation, medical care of the patient, and psychological implications are essential to the delivery of excellent nursing care. Nurses are active members of the health care team. With the assistance of nurses, health care can improve the overall survival as well as the quality of life of marrow transplant patients.
