Will novel virus go pandemic or be contained?

If 2019-nCoV does establish itself in several countries and becomes a pandemic, then containment is no longer an option and the hope is that the virus has a seasonal pattern of spread like influenza, which would buy time for researchers to develop effective treatments and possibly vaccines to reduce the harm caused by a threat that didn9t exist 2 months ago.
