Abstract
Previous studies of information systems implementation and utilization have been concerned with the behaviors and attitudes of managers or their surrogates. This paper employs a system of five structural equations to represent the causal relationships between the characteristics of workers, jobs, and systems that may account for the satisfaction and utilization of information technologies by nonsupervisory workers. Results indicate that the character of the job and the individual worker have little impact on the ultimate satisfaction and usage of CBIS by workers, while education and training in the system and opportunities for enhanced work productivity are important.
