Abstract
We analyze a cheap talk game, à la Crawford and Sobel, in a multidimensional state and policy space. A feature of the multidimensional state space is that communication on one dimension often reveals information on others. We show how this feature imposes bounds on communication. Using the notion of “distributional” strategies, this work proves four main theorems: (i) a mixed-strategy Nash equilibrium existence theorem, (ii) a pure-str strategy equilibrium existenceorem, (iii) apure-strategic (epsilon-equilibrium existence theorem), and (iv) a theorem describing how the set of equilibria of a game varies with the parameters of the game.

It is shown that the necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of the fully revealing equilibrium is that the senders have opposing-biased preferences, which implies full information transmission even if the self-serving belief cannot work.

In order to derive optimal decision rules for a decision maker who can consult two experts in an environment without monetary payments, it is proved that any out-of-equilibrium pair of recommendations by the experts are punished with an action that is independent of their reports.
