Als α-Aminosäuremimetika sind α-Aminophosphonate sehr vielversprechende Motive für antibakterielle und Anti-HIV-Wirkstoffe sowie für Proteaseinhibitoren. Racemische α-verzweigte Aldehyde werden in Gegenwart des neuen chiralen Phosphorsäure-Katalysators 1 mit p-Anisidin (PMPNH2) und einem Phosphit direkt hoch diastereo- und enantioselektiv zu β-verzweigten α-Aminophosphonaten umgesetzt.
